BrOAGS Poison and Narcotics

This article is part of the rules of BrOAGS.

Poisons

Poison damage cannot be soaked. Some poisons are also depressants, stimulants, hallucinogens or paralytics. A given poison is defined by its rank(measured on a scale of 1 to 5) and its dosage(measured in Damage). A poison deals Damage according to it's rank until it has done Damage equal to it's Dosage. For instance if somebody is injected with Dosage 20 of a rank 3 poison, she will suffer 1 Damage a minute for 20 minutes. If somebody is poisoned more than once with the same poison, the Dosages stack but the rank remains the same.

Rank 1: 1 level of Damage per hour.
Rank 2: 1 level of Damage per 10 minutes.
Rank 3: 1 level of Damage per minute.
Rank 4: 1 level of Damage per 10 seconds.
Rank 5: 1 level of Damage per round.

Tranquilizers

Tranquilizers work just like poisons, except they deal non-lethal Damage.

Special Poisons

Supply and training with these poisons costs 3 points each. Only one dose at a time can be used in the stated weapon configurations in the poison, both for the user's own safety and practical limitations. Characters with Expert: poisons, herbalism or whatever and knowledge of these poisons are presumed to be able to craft them out of the raw materials without a check.

Blood Lotus Extract: A long-thought lost plant that grew only in the gardens of Mu returns once again with the coming of the Children of Dagon. Extract of this plant reacts with hot human blood to cause a painful burning sensation. One dose applied to two blades or piercing weapons gives both +2 to damage and the pain descriptor. One dose applied to a single large blade or piercing weapon grants +4 damage and the pain descriptor.

Intoxication

Depressants, stimulants, hallucinogens and paralytics all cause their own kinds of intoxication. These drugs are measured in units, where a unit of alcohol is one unit of depressants. To determine how intoxicated a character is, they take a Toughness test, subtract the result from the number of units they have taken and look the result up on the table below. Different kinds of intoxication are tracked seperately.
