New Take on High-Tech Weapons

OK. I'm thinking of removing Hi-Tech Weapons Training and just treating all futuretech weapons as Technological Items. This has a number of pluses. 1) You can have non-soldiers from the future who have a high-tech pistol which they fire two-handed. 2) It simplifies the interaction between combat styles and futuristic weapons. 3) It simplifies the balance between high-tech firearms and high-tech melee weapons. This is some vague planning of how high tech weapons would look under such a model.

Minor Technological Items (Ranged)

Laser Pistol: 12 Damage, Two-handed, Half Soak, Quick Draw, Subtle. A Laser Pistol can be used one-handed by characters with Firearms Training.

Heavy Laser Pistol: 15 Damage, Two-handed, Half Soak, Quick Draw, Minimum Strength 3. A Heavy Laser Pistol can be used one-handed by characters with Firearms Training, but this raises the minimum strength required to 4.

Rail Pistol: 15 Damage, Two-handed, Quick Draw. A Rail Pistol can be used one-handed by characters with Firearms Training.

Flechette Rifle: 12 Damage, Two-handed, Two shots. A Flechette Rifle is a Military Weapon. Flechette Rifles may fire pain ammunition, though that must be purchased seperately.

Minor Technological Items (Melee)

QED Magnetic Tomahawks: Strength + 4, One-handed, +2 to hit targets made of metal or wearing metal armour. Tomahawks can be thrown as well as used in melee. You get a small supply of tomahawks when you buy this, not just one. If a target made of metal or wearing metal armour is hit, it requires a difficulty 5 Strength check to wrench the tomahawk free.

Moderate Technological Items

Next Generation Assault Rifle: 10 Damage, Two-handed, Two shots, +1 to hit. A NGAR is a Military Weapon. It is loaded with either armour cracker or shredder rounds, the cost of which is included in the NGAR. It is also fitted with an underslung grenade launcher loaded with plasma grenades(10 Damage, Area, No Soak). A NGAR without its advanced ammunition(shredders, armour crackers and plasma grenades) can be bought as a Minor Technological Item.

Laser Rifle: 12 Damage, Two-handed, Two shots, Half Soak, +2 to hit. A Laser Rifle is a Military Weapon.

Laser Rifle(Sniping Model): 24 Damage, Two-handed, Long Range, Half-Soak, +3 to hit. A Laser Sniper Rifle is a Military Weeapon.

Laser SMG: 12 Damage, Two-handed, Two shots, Half Soak, +1 to hit, Quick Draw. A Laser SMG is a Military Weapon.

Rail Rifle: 15 Damage, Two-handed, Two shots, +1 to hit. A Rail Rifle is a Military Weapon.

Plasma Rifle: 12 Damage, Two-handed, Two shots, No Soak. A Plasma Rifle is a Military Weapon.

The best phased plasma rifles are made by Fawlty-Watt. They have a range of different designs, but the differences are purely cosmetic. You can use any phased plasma rifle in the Fawlty-Watt range.

Major Technological Items

Dual Laser SMGs: 12 Damage, Two-handed, Three shots, Half Soak, +1 to hit, Quick Draw, Minimum Strength 5.

Current model works fine the way it is already. Would Theta weapons have to work this way?

If I decide to go with this model, then yes.
