Advantages

Soul Weapon - 1cp
The most important and central ability to a Kattanae. Pick one standard melee weapon. You are able to summon a simple weapon of this type as no action. If the weapon is dropped, wrestled from you or otherwise leaves contact with you then it dissipates. You can also choose to dissipate it as no action. You can re-summon even a dissipated weapon. If you choose a one-handed weapon, you can choose to summon one in each hand and no more. You cannot take this ability multiple times. It is basically balaced as subtle and quick draw, however you can't have it confiscated and you cant give it to someone else. A list of the usual choices is repeated here for ease.

Palette Swap - 0cp
All Katannae who travel to other dimensions are taught this technique before departure. It is a 15 minute basic ritual that requires incense, meditation and a drawn magick circle and can only be cast on the caster. It also requires knowledge of the correct coloration of the chosen race. The ritual recolors the character's skin, eyes, hair, blood, teeth and fingernails to that of the chosen race. The ritual is technically a hex, and can be dispelled by the usual ways of dispelling any magick or hex. A without can rub the color off a palette swapped character with skin contact.

Swordphase One - 1cp
During childhood, the first improvement on a Kattanae's soul weapon manifests itself. The soul weapon is now treated like a slightly magick item and can be built as such, however character advantages aren't allowed in this phase. Here are some common examples:

  • Elemental: +1 damage per hand. Any one elemental quality (fire, cold, electric etc.)
  • True: +1 to hit
  • Sharp: High Critical, can swap blade attack for piercing (or vice versa)

Swordphase Two - 4cp
As the Katannae practices with their soul weapon, the second improvement on a Kattanae's soul weapon manifests itself, usually during their late teens. Most Katannae reach this stage and go no further, either as part of their limits, or as they settle into civilian adult life. The soul weapon is now treated like a minor magick item and can be built as such. Here are some common examples:

  • Elemental Plus: +4 damage per hand. Any one elemental quality (fire, cold, electric etc.)
  • Elemental Helix: +4 damage per hand. Any two elemental qualities (fire, cold, electric etc.), loses blade, piercing and/or blunt
  • Imbued: +2 damage per hand. +1 to hit, +1 block
  • Shoots Fireballs!: Fire, Moderate Supernatural Attack: Fireball (15 damage, fire)

Swordphase Three - 8cp
Only accomplised, wise and experienced Katannae ever reach this level of martial superiority. The soul weapon is now treated like a moderate magick item and can be built as such. Here are some common examples:

  • Elemental Fury: +8 damage per hand. Any one elemental quality (fire, cold, electric etc.)
  • Elemental Trilix: +8 damage per hand. Any three elemental qualities (fire, cold, electric etc.), loses blade, piercing and/or blunt
  • Templar's: +4 damage per hand. +2 to hit, +2 block
  • Light-Charged: +4 damage per hand, +2 Block, +2 Dodge, laser
